To mark the anniversary of Shez’s passing, to celebrate his life & loves, as well as supporting and raising money for both St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Sri Lanka (a charity that was very close to his heart) and Durham Family Welfare Adoption (a registered charity in the UK which has played a key role in both Noel and Anshu's lives), the first Noel Shearing Memorial Cup event will be held at Durham School on the 6th of November 2010.

We stress that this is a celebration of Shez’s life and an opportunity for us all to get together and raise a glass or three in the Shearing way! Just as he would have wanted us to.

The agenda for the day

10am - There will be a memorial service in the Chapel at Durham School
11.30am - As Shez would have wanted, there will be a rugby game played by us, his family and friends. The format will allow all comers and abilities (and fitness’s!). Shirts will be provided but please bring boots, shorts and socks. When responding please state if you wish to play
1pm - Lunch will be provided for players and supporters in the Big School
3pm - The Noel Shearing Memorial Cup - Durham School have kindly agreed that the annual game between the school’s 1st XV and Ampleforth 1st XV will be played for a trophy with Shez’s name on it, a fantastic legacy that he would love
From 7.30pm – Evening dinner and drinks – details and format to follow (likely to be dependent on early indications of numbers interested in attending)We look forward to seeing everyone for what we hope will be a fitting event to celebrate Shez’s life & loves.
